God of War Ragnarok is finally within touching distance, with its November launch date drawing closer to put years of anticipation to an end. And even though the game has gone gold, SIE Santa Monica Studio is, of course, continuing to work on it behind the scenes to polish it further and squash out bugs- and a recent update spotted on PlayStation Network may have given us a glimpse of that.
Twitter page @PlaystationSize, which routinely tracks updates made to the PSN backend, recently reported that update 1.01 was recently pushed by God of War Ragnarok’s PS4 version, with the update weighing in at 18.4 GB- which, of course, would mean that the game’s going to get a substantial day one update. It remains to be seen whether an update of similar size gets pushed for the PS5 version.
A previous report suggested that God of War Ragnarok’s base size on the PS4 is above 90 GB, but as is often the case with this update, it’s unlikely to be added on top of that in its entirety, with the bulk of its files likely replacing existing files in the base package. Of course, if SIE Santa Monica chooses to release another update for the game between now and launch, we will be looking at multiple day one updates.
God of War Ragnarok launches for PS5 and PS4 on November 9.
