Google 2012: PlayStation was the 6th most searched term under Consumer Electronics

Xbox not in the top 10.

Google search results gives us an idea of what a majority of people are searching for or what they want, and you kind of knew that Justin Beiber and Kate Middleton were going to top the results for 2012. Actually you were wrong, Selena Gomez managed to top instead of Justin Beiber! Not sure if that means anything though, or maybe it does…

But hey, let’s talk about videogames for a second, shall we. It’s interesting to see how much the PlayStation and Xbox brand have grown since 2006, and while the former is far ahead in Facebook likes, it’s not the same when you look at the Google search results for 2012.

Under the consumer electronics section, iPad 3 was the most searched term which is a no brainer followed by Samsung Galaxy S3. However, Xbox is not featured in the top 10 list at all, but PlayStation is there at number 6.

One thing to keep in mind here is that these terms are equal to billions of queries, yes billions, since they are results for the entire year.

Here’s the top 10 according to Google.

  1. iPad 3
  2. Samsung Galaxy S3
  3. iPad Mini
  4. Nexus 7
  5. Galaxy Note 2
  6. Play Station
  7. iPad 4
  8. Microsoft Surface
  9. Kindle Fire
  10. Nokia Lumia 920

So there you go, and I am kind of surprised to see Microsoft Surface there but hey! Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
