Google Will Refund Stadia Pro Users for Recently Announced Free Games

If you purchased either Tomb Raider or Farming Simulator 19, you can avail refunds for the same.

Google recently announced that Stadia Pro would be receiving two more free games in its service come December. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and Farming Simulator 19: Platinum Edition will join the likes of Destiny 2: The Collection and Samurai Shodown on December 1st. However, what about those who already purchased both games on the service?

On the official forums, community manager GraceFromGoogle said that, “We know that some users have recently purchased these two games for their collection. Because of the proximity between the launch of the platform, and the announcement of these titles in Stadia Pro, we’re happy to assist you if you’d like to request a refund if you have purchased either or both of these titles, even if it’s outside of our normal policy.”

It’s a nice gesture but the words “outside of our normal policy” should be noted. Don’t expect to be refunding games left and right just because an exception was made for this time. The games in question being announced free for Stadia Pro coinciding with their launch on the service roughly two weeks ago is the only reason for refunds here.

Google Stadia is currently available in 14 territories and for $10 per month. A free tier will be available next year with more games like Darksiders Genesis and Borderlands 3 set to arrive before 2019 is up. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
