Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo series continues to climb in terms of unit sales. The developer updated its website to announce that Gran Turismo 6 has sold more than five million units since releasing in 2013 while the series overall has 76.8 million units sold as of June 30th.

That’s not bad considering how old the franchise is (the first game released in December 1997 for PS One in Japan). Earlier, the developer revealed that Gran Turismo 6 had sold 4.96 million units as of March 31st, which equates to 50,000 more copies sold in the three months till its newest milestone.

Polyphony Digital is currently working on Gran Turismo Sport for the PlayStation 4 which will also support PlayStation VR. Along with a more professional racing backdrop, players can even earn a legitimate racing license by completing various tasks and challenges in-game. Gran Turismo Sport releases on November 15th but what do you think of Gran Turismo 6′s continued success? As always, let us know in the comments.
