Along with confirming that Gran Turismo 7 would offer more than 400 cars and over 90 track layouts in 34 locations, producer Kazunori Yamauchi spoke about visuals in the recent State of Play. Though he didn’t mention ray tracing mode for actual races (as a leaked preview seemingly indicated), it does look absolutely gorgeous. Check it out below from 11:43 onwards.

Yamauchi also talks about the extent of weather and time simulation, from simulating cloud formation to the placement of stars and planets at night (along with the rising and setting of the Moon along with the Sun). You can even expect stars to change color based on the atmosphere. Of course, weather changes will also affect tire grip and other factors but you can track this with the raincloud radar (which comes in handy for places like Nurburgring where it may only rain in one section).

After promising extensive customization, Yamauchi revealed that each car has 60 types of performance parts, allowing one to change the appearance and performance to their will, and offering “several thousand” parts for customization. This includes more than 650 aerodynamic parts, 130 wheel types and 1200 colors of “measured paint data.” Along with this is the Livery Editor which allows for a higher number of stickers than before.

Scapes returns and offers over 2,500 spots to photograph vehicles in (with HDR support) and one can also take pictures of races that they’ve been in with Race Photo Mode. If you’re looking to share all of that content, from replays to photographs and liveries, then the Showcase is your best friend especially since other players can download your creations.

Gran Turismo 7 is out on March 4th for PS4 and PS5.
