Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo series has always had a strong market in the UK, though the same argument could be applied for a number of racing sims. It helped Gran Turismo Sport with a strong debut but thanks to Black Friday deals, the PS4 exclusive has seen a huge uptick in sales.
In fact, according to Chart-Track, Gran Turismo Sport is just a few weeks away from reaching Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy as the no. 1 selling PS4 exclusive of 2017 in the UK. As per Games Industry International, “serious discounting” over the last few weeks has Gran Turismo Sport reach this point. Considering Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy spent five consecutive weeks on top of the charts when it launched, that’s no small feat.
Black Friday 2017 as a whole was incredibly lucrative for Sony’s PlayStation 4 – it was the console’s second best Black Friday week ever in the UK. Its best Black Friday week was in 2013 when the PS4 launched.
