Along with announcing a date for the demo, Cygames’ Granblue Fantasy: Relink received extensive new gameplay during its latest showcase. At the 9:30 mark, Gran and his crew arrive in a desert environment, tackling all kinds of ferocious enemies while gliding along the sand. Eventually, they face a massive griffin boss.
Several gameplay elements, like character upgrades, weapon materials and leveling, are also revealed. A quick Quest against a previously revealed boss, Quakadile, is also showcased at 27:30, which grants more materials based on your performance. Finally, there’s some level 100 co-op gameplay from 43:46, with players able to inspect and communicate with each other before setting out.
The Quest involves taking down a massive wind-based dragon, which packs a punch. It’s a lot, especially with tornadoes echoing through the area, but it helps to highlight each character’s unique play style.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink will get a free demo on January 12th, midnight JST, for PS4 and PS5. The game is out on consoles and PC on February 1st, with free updates from early March onwards.
