Cygames’ Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, a follow-up to the 2020 fighter based on its free-to-play mobile RPG, is out now. It’s playable on PS4, PS5, and PC, but there’s also a free version to try out.
While offering improved visuals and rollback netcode for online play, Versus: Rising also adds four new characters – Siegfried, Anila, Nier and Grimnir. The fighting system also sees several new additions, from Triple Attacks and Dash Attacks to Raging Strikes for breaking an opponent’s guard and Brave Counters for immediately countering attacks.
A new story arc centered on the return of Lucilius is also included, with RPG Mode overhauled in favor of Story Mode with no weapon or equipment grinding. There’s also a new Fall Guys-style mini-game, Grand Bruise Legends.
There’s more content on the way for Character Pass owners, with Lucilius joining the roster in mid-January 2024. A new stage and online lobby update will also go live by February. Check out the post-launch roadmap here.
