It’s become clear at this point that Grand Theft Auto 6 is still quite a ways off, and that, combined with the fact that Rockstar has focused almost all of its energies on consistently updating GTA Online rather than putting out new single player content for series fans has left many very frustrated. GTA 5 is supposed to receive a remaster (or a re-remaster) for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S soon though- but even that might not launch when it’s supposed to.
According to dataminer @Matheusbr9895_ on Twitter, Grand Theft Auto 5: Expanded and Enhanced’s development has been “complicated”, and though it’s currently set to launch in March (after already having been delayed from a late 2021 launch), it might get pushed back once more, this time to April or May. Apparently, Rockstar’s original plan was simply to patch the existing console versions of the game for the new consoles and release GTA Online for them separately, but but the new scope of the project, reworking and future-proofing the engine is apparently taking longer than expected.
If that is indeed the case, it shouldn’t be too long before Rockstar officially announces the delay. Until that happens though, remember to take this with a grain of salt, as with any and all unverified information.
