Gwent: The Witcher Card Game Trademarked By CD Projekt RED

E3 announcement incoming?

When The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt launched last year, a lot of people joked that Gwent, the fictional card game that serves as a source of multiple quests, minigames, and income throughout Geralt’s story, was so well developed and fleshed out that it could be its own standalone product.

Much like Ubisoft acted on a similar observation made about the naval portions of Assassin’s Creed III with the launch of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, so too it seems like CD Projekt RED will be doing the same- because it appears as though they have trademarked Gwent: The Witcher Card Game– meaning that this might be their Witcher related announcement for E3 that they had hinted at earlier this year.

Right now, literally no information about this project exists other than the fact that it was trademarked by CD Projekt RED, but if I were to guess, it would be a free to play game for PC and smartphones, in the vein of Blizzard’s Hearthstone. And I will spend a ton of hours on it.
