Half-Life is finally back after a long, long hiatus, and Valve clearly plan on keeping the franchise going on the heels of Half-Life: Alyx– but until not that long ago, the series was going through a prolonged period of having stagnated. Valve, of course, had to cancel the development of the long-awaited Half-Life 2: Episode 3, but another game that was also in development that had to be cancelled was its follow-up, Episode 4.

Called Return to Ravenholm, it was being developed by Arkane Studios of Dishonored and Prey fame before it was cancelled, but now, we’ve got some clips showing glimpses of gameplay from the cancelled project. NoClip are working on a documentary on Arkane, charting their history and their games – those that saw the light of day and those that didn’t – and a trailer for the documentary as well as a clip shared by them on Twitter shows glimpses from the game, briefly showcasing puzzles, environmental interaction, and spooky encounters with zombies. Take a look below.

The full documentary will be out soon, so keep an eye out for that for more on Return to Ravenholm.
