One of the big draws of the Halo series has always been the fact that there has always been a really entertaining multi-player mode. 343 is clearly working to make this the case with Halo 5: Guardians. We already know some of the details regarding the multiplayer mode including the fact that there won’t be any kind of voting allowed and there also won’t be any kind of vetos going on when it comes to the teams. Now the company is shedding some light on the revamped Capture The Flag mode that will be included in Guardians.

On Halo Waypoint, Max Grossman, the game’s multiplayer designer said there are two big components when it comes to the new mode. Grossman said that the first aspect is that it has to be fun to run the flag. The second factor is that the best team has to be able to win. In order to make that second part work right, Grossman said that they’ve built the mode so that “your team is your weapon.” 343 has pulled this off by making the person who is carrying the flag move slower than the rest of the team.

This means that the person who grabs the other team’s flag needs their own team in order to support them as they try and carry that flag past their checkpoint. The team then has to play both offense and defense and figure out the best way to get that done. To that end, flag dropping and flag juggling are also back in the game and players will have to figure out when the best time to do either will be. You’ll be able to check out all of this when Halo 5: Guardians launches on October 27.
