Halo Infinite is promising a big world and set of gameplay scenarios. Many are hoping the game will be a return to form, of sorts, for the franchise that, while still popular, has fallen somewhat in the grand scheme of things. Now, though, that world will be at least one short as the game’s Creative Director has finished the fight a little earlier than expected.

As confirmed via Microsoft in a press release after a report from Kotaku, Tom Longo departed the company as the game moves in the later stages of development. According to the Kotaku report, he had actually moved to another role shortly before leaving.

It’s not necessarily a bad sign since shakeups, even major ones, do happen at various stages in a game’s development. It is unusual for someone in that position to move on from that specific role at such a late stage, however. As of now there’s no more information about the departure, so that may have to be something to be told another day. Good or bad, we’ll find out next when Halo Infinite launches for Xbox One, PC and as a launch title for the Xbox Scarlett.
