The PlayStation 4’s DualShock 4 has a rather odd addition to it that has yet to find much use outside of identifying of players in the game. This is the Light Bar, which flashes a different colour depending on the player in question.

Of course, there’s also concern that the Light Bar would consume battery life and really, what use is it if you’re playing by yourself or enjoying online multiplayer with no one else with you?

Regardless, SCE Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida answered “No” when asked if there would be a future update for disabling the Light Bar. He also stated that the LED within the controller doesn’t consume much of the battery life. And if you find it annoying? Then you’ll just have to deal with it.

Do you wish you at least had the option to disable it, if only temporarily? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
