Here’s The First Trailer for Alone In The Dark: Illumination

I'm not quite sure what to think of it yet.

Alone in the Dark is a seminal franchise, the true progenitor of the survival horror genre, one that was scaring PC players long before Resident Evil and Silent Hill were a thing. Atari’s announcement earlier this year that they would be reviving the franchise for PC was met with some apprehension- would this new, diminished Atari, who had seen it fit to release a bastardized version of RollerCoaster Tycoon- another one of their classic IPs- on smartphones.

Well, they just released their first trailer for the new Alone in the Dark game, and… I mean, it actually looks good. It’s just… I’m not quite sure what to make of it yet. It looks fairly standard, and that’s the problem- it doesn’t look remarkable, remarkably good or bad, it just… is. Sort of.

This is only the first trailer, so who knows what the final product may be like. It might actually be pretty amazing. I am pulling for it to be just that.
