Hollow Knight and Dead Cells Top Nintendo Switch eShop Charts in Europe in August

Switch owners have fine taste.

With August now behind us, Nintendo has sent an update on the news channel to Switch owners about the top selling games on the Nintendo eShop for last month in Europe. I am sure many will be pleased with their fellow Switch owners’ tastes, because the top selling game in Europe last month was Hollow Knight. Aw yes. Presumably the sale had something to do with it.

Hollow Knight was followed by Dead Cells and Overcooked! 2, with Okami HD taking up the fourth spot. Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate debuted in tenth place, and, very interestingly, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in number five was the only Nintendo game in the top 15- everything else is third party. Talk about a reversal- who could have guessed even just a year ago that third parties would dominate the sales charts on a Nintendo platform?

September’s charts should see a healthy shakeup again, with multiple new Switch releases, including Valkyria Chronicles 4, FIFA 19, and NBA 2K19, all lined for this month. Check out the August chart below.

  1. Hollow Knight
  2. Dead Cells
  3. Overcooked! 2
  4. Okami HD
  5. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  6. Minecraft
  7. Stardew Valley
  8. Octopath Traveler
  9. Salt and Sanctuary
  10.  Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate
  11.  Rocket League
  12. Into the Breach
