Hollow Knight: Silksong Could Receive Additional Content, Team Cherry Has “A Plan”

"Some of the plans for that stuff are kind of ambitious as well, but hopefully we can achieve some of it,” said co-director William Pellen.

Even with all the Gamescom announcements, it’s fitting that Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight: Silksong would dominate headlines after finally receiving a release date. However, it’s perhaps no surprise that the developer is already thinking about what’s next.

Speaking to Bloomberg, co-director William Pellen said, “Launching it is obviously quite exciting. What comes after for us is equally as exciting. The most interesting thing now is what can we add to it next. We got a plan. Admittedly, some of the plans for that stuff are kind of ambitious as well, but hopefully we can achieve some of it.”

For some fans, this is to be expected, especially with Hollow Knight’s free updates and post-launch DLC, but for the majority, there may be some foreboding. After all, Silksong originally began as a paid expansion for the first game before evolving into a separate title. The rest, as they say, is history. Whether history repeats itself and the studio’s plans evolve into yet another game remains to be seen, but it would be fitting.

Hollow Knight: Silksong launches on September 4th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. It’s also playable on day one for Game Pass. Team Cherry won’t send review codes out before launch to keep things fair for backers and its players, though the team’s size is also a factor. Head here for more details.
