Amplitude Studios’ 4X strategy title Humankind was slated to release this year for PC. Unfortunately, it’s suffered a delay into 2021. That being said, there is a new initiative that will allow certain players to try the game out early. It’s called OpenDev and registrations go live today.

On its official website, the developer stated this is “a new way for players to get early access into our developing games”. This will help ensure the development team is on the right path with its features.  During OpenDev, players will be able to access three time-limited scenarios. These will focus on exploration, combat and city management with each scenario having a survey to provide feedback.

Registrations for OpenDev will close on June 26th so you’d best hurry. In the coming months, more players will receive access and new scenarios will also be released. Considering the size and scope of Humankind, which allows you to customize your own civilization from the ground up, additional testing is perhaps for the best. Stay tuned in the meantime for more updates.
