With its early access release window set, Heart Machine’s Hyper Light Breaker has received some new pre-alpha gameplay courtesy of Game Informer. Combat is the biggest focus against different enemies, but plenty of exploration is also showcased. Check it out below.

As The Breakers, players are on a mission to take down the Abyss King, but reaching him requires venturing to biomes and defeating bosses to activate beacons. Regular enemies can be crafty, including long-range foes that take the high ground while other units attack up close. Fortunately, you can seamlessly shift from a sword, dual daggers, and other melee weapons to ranged weaponry.

While movement is not as fast as Solar Ash, the design is geared towards combat in enclosed areas like Hyper Light Drifter. Interestingly, alongside a regular dash, there’s a combat dash for closing the distance on enemies. The former works more for evasion, while the latter is for continuing the assault on enemies. It’s worth noting that there is fall damage, so the glider is a necessity.

Hyper Light Breaker enters early access on PC this Summer, though its content has yet to be detailed. Stay tuned for updates and check out the different environments here.
