Hyrule Warriors Features Ganondorf as Playable Character, New Trailer Released

Zant and Girahim also confirmed.

Nintendo promised some new details on its upcoming hack and slash action adventure title Hyrule Warriors, developed by Omega Force and Team Ninja, and it wasn’t kidding. Along with several new details about the gameplay, Nintendo revealed that series’ antagonist Ganondorf would be a playable character for the first time ever. Check out the trailer above.

Ganondorf uses a Great Sword in the above footage though he seems to be wielding two at the same time. His attacks are mostly power-related and you can juggle multiple enemies at once with repeated slices. You’ll also recognize the energy ball attack from Ocarina of Time among other darkness-related super powers. Ganondorf is an interesting addition but how does he fit into the whole story? That remains to be seen. Other confirmed characters include Zant from Twilight Princess and Girahim from Skyward Sword, both antagonists in their respective titles.

Hyrule Warriors will be out next week for the Wii U in Japan and will arrive in mid-September for North America and Europe.
