The name “Gordon Freeman” was coined by Gabe Newell.
This is a name is a popular than most video game characters, because Half Life is one of the most talked about games in the this generation and possibly the generations t come . The origins of his name, were supposed to evoke some famous scientists, so Gabe took inspiration in the names of his “heroes”: physicist/philosopher Freeman Dyson mixed, though he was also a fan of the French mathematician Jules Henri Poincare, which he eventually ended up with Dyson Poincare. Gabe Newell apparently disliked it and suggested “Gordon Freeman” instead.
