The Borealis’ teleportation mishap shares many similarities to the urban legend of the Philadelphia Experiment
Not many people are aware of this fact that the Borealis and the USS Eldridge (DE-173), a Bootlick-class destroyer escort have a lot in common. The USS Eldridge is often acknowledge as an alleged naval military experiment at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, where the ship had the ability to be rendered invisible to human observers for a brief period. Though many government officials have often rejected this claim that the ship had accidentally teleported from its dry dock to a U.S. naval base over 200 miles away. In the most radical versions of the story, the ship achieved accidental time travel.
