Indian retailer Intencity lists the Vita at Rs 19, 990 for the WiFi model

So the first rumours about PlayStation Vita’s pricing in India are trickling in, and it may slightly end up being expensive than the western prices when the handheld is finally out in the country.

As you know the $ rate is at its highest in India with Rs 1 = $52, and this could be a main factor behind the pricing.

The WiFi model is listed at Rs. 19, 990 and the 3G + WiFi model is listed at Rs. 23, 490. The games will retail at Rs. 2, 499 and Rs. 1, 799 respectively.

Considering the PS3 is priced at Rs. 16, 990, the Vita’s pricing is slightly baffling. Both are priced at $250 in the US. But it has to be said that in India we normally follow the EU pricing.

Take this with a pinch of salt though, as the final price could be slightly lower, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

The Vita is already out in Japan and will release worldwide on February 22nd. Stay tuned to GB for more updates; we will bring you the official statement as soon as we get our hands on it.
