Injustice 2

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has confirmed the development of Injustice 2, the fighting game from NetherRealm Studios that pits popular DC Comics heroes against each other. The first cinematic trailer has been revealed and features heroes like Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Flash and Supergirl battling it out.

Ed Boon, Creative Director at NetherRealm Studios, stated that, “In Injustice 2, we are introducing new features that will change the way fans play fighting games. We’re always interested in pushing the genre forward and allowing players to customize and level-up their favorite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains is a significant leap.”

David Haddad, President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, further stated that, “Expanding the DC Universe in games continues to be one of our top priorities, and Injustice 2 showcases amazing gameplay and an original story to bring the characters to life for players. NetherRealm Studios is offering fans an experience of customizing and battling with DC’s iconic characters in an entirely new way.”

That customization will take the form of gear that can be earned in-game, thus allowing players a chance to customize their heroes’ looks, fighting styles and much more (you’ll spot a lot of that gear in the trailer below). The story will continue the tale of the first game as Batman and his friends work towards rebuilding the world while supporters of Superman’s regime try to stop them.

New heroes include Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd and new locations like Metropolis, Gotham City and Atlantis have been promised. Injustice 2 will be out in 2017.
