iPad to be replace consoles in the future – EA and Epic

Posted By | On 14th, Mar. 2012

EA and Epic are bullish on the iPad and understandably so. Apple is extremely profitable and people buy the iPad in droves, and when you consider these two things, it’s a recipe for success. The processing power of the new iPad may not be equal to the PS3 and Xbox 360, but once it catches them and with the ability to easily connect to the TV, it can become a huge contender to the consoles.

Mark Rein of Epic Games praised Apple a lot. He said, “Apple is definitely building their devices as if they care a lot about ‘triple-A’ games. It is quite easy to imagine a world where an iPad is more powerful than a home console, where it wirelessly talks to your TV and wirelessly talks to your controller and becomes your new console.”

It’s not surprising when their games are very successful on the iOS inspite of being priced higher than average. Frank Gibeau of EA chimed in as well.

“When the iPad gets to the processing power that’s equal to an Xbox 360 and it connects to a television, that’s no big deal to us. We’ll put the game through the iPad and have it display through the television.”
