Jade Empire Special Edition

PC gamers take note: Bioware’s Jade Empire Special Edition is available, free of cost, on EA’s Origin service courtesy of the “On The House” promotion. Simply log into Origin and download it.

Never heard of Jade Empire? Think of it as a Knight of the Old Republic-style action RPG (but with more action) that substituted the Force for ancient Chinese mythology and martial arts. You play as an orphan taken in by a martial arts master who is subsequently kidnapped. Along the way, you’ll meet various allies and decide on pursuing the path of good (the Way of the Open Palm) or evil (the Way of the Closed Fist) in your journey.

Jade Empire released for the original Xbox in 2005 with the Special Edition having released in 2007. The game received a fair amount of critical acclaim at the time for its combat, storyline and memorable characters. Plus, it’s a Bioware game with kung-fu. How can you not be interested?
