Ember Lab’s Kena: Bridge of Spirits recently received some new gameplay footage courtesy of the Tribeca Games Spotlight 2021. Founders Mike and Josh Grier discussed the game’s presentation and how challenging it is compared to traditional cinema. We also get a general sense for how exploration plays out.

While exploring, Kena may come across a “memory” which leads her down a certain path. In other instances, the Rot may indicate an object of interest, like a fox statue that can be restored with their help. Kena also has other means to get around besides jumping – she can use her bow to fire a tether at certain glowing flowers and grapple towards it.

The Grier brothers also discuss the quality of animation and how many of the animators came from a film background. Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper video game presentation without the tease of something sinister at the end.  Check it out below, courtesy of GameSpot.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is slated to release on August 24th for PS4, PS5 and PC.
