Kingdom Hearts 3

Square Enix showcased a video message from Kingdom Hearts III director Tetsuya Nomura at the recently held D23 expo, in which he went on to reveal quite a lot of interesting details on the upcoming RPG. Unfortunately, the video was not published but one of the most interesting pieces of information to come out of the expo has to be the fact that there is still one world in Kingdom Hearts III that Square haven’t shown.

Beyond that, Nomura explained that the gameplay design of each of the worlds in the game will be quite varied, with each differing from the others, before going on to claim that the last stage of the game is something he’s wanted to make for a long time, though he didn’t give any further details on it.

Nomura also claimed that he had been hesitant to show off the Tangled world to audiences until quite recently, since the team was having issues with the physics of Rapunzel’s hair. After having worked on it, it now interacts with the environment the way the developers want it to, such as wrapping around trees. The city-like environment of Corona from Tangled was also shown off, while it’s now been confirmed that swimming is possible in the game.

A few other gameplay details were also revealed. For instance, it’s been confirmed that there will be many new keyblades in the game (as you may have guessed already) and that there will also be new cooperative attacks. Meanwhile, Rare Heartless will also be included in the game once again. Oh, and players will be able to customize the Gummi Ship, which will let players freely explore in an open world-like environment, while there will also be some combat peppered throughout.

Kingdom Hearts III is due out for launch sometime this year for the PS4 and Xbox One, though Square Enix have not yet confirmed an actual, specific release date for the game. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for continued coverage.
