Death Stranding has to be one of the most highly anticipated upcoming PlayStation exclusives, not least because it’s being made by legendary developer Hideo Kojima and his team over at Kojima Productions. People generally have the highest expectations from anything Kojima works on, and for good reason too, because it’s hard to look at any Kojima game and not think of it as one of the best games on its respective system.
Kojima recently spoke about the game in a post-E3 interview with Geoff Keighley, and stated that he’s devoting all his energies and giving everything he has to the development of the upcoming title. When he was asked about the inclusion of actor Lindsay Wagner in the game, Kojima said he wanted to go big. “For the heroine,” he said through his translator, “I was thinking, ‘might as well be my last project, I don’t know, so I want to make it count’, and the person who has influenced me the most and I look up to the most is Lindsay.”
It certainly does look like Death Stranding is a true passion project for Kojima. He’s been, for better or for worse, stuck making Metal Gear Solid games for the better part of a decade, and now that he’s finally free of those shackles, he now has the full creative freedom to make whatever he wants, and it looks like it’s shaping up well.
