Kojima: “We’ll probably have to make it at some point” On MGS 5

Kojima has hinted about Metal Gear Solid 5 again in an interview with OPM UK. Although, earlier rumours were surfacing that the game was “confirmed” but that’s not the case. We still don’t have adequate proof about Metal Gear Solid 5.

Kojima told the magazine that they “have” to make it again, which means, considering Konami’s financial condition, it is inevitable, as a new Metal Gear game could mean a lot of money.

I think we’ll probably have to make it at some point, but what that will be, we have no idea,” he said.

This probably means the concept isn’t decided yet, but one of the most important news to come out of all this is, Kojima will not be involved heavily if they do create a new Metal Gear game. He has his reasons for this though.

As far as my involvement in the project is concerned, [it] probably won’t be as much as it was with MGS1 – maybe I can do just one stage! For MGS1 I made the maps myself, laid out the enemy routes myself, did everything hands-on – that level I can’t do again.”

He was heavily involved in Metal Gear Solid 4 as well, due to the reason that his team wasn’t understanding what he wanted to say.

I intended to take it to a certain point and then hand it off, but that didn’t work, because it’s hard to convey the concept to other people then have them take the reins and carry on and preserve that vision.”

That’s why it’s easier to have them come up with everything from the start and then take it to the end“.
