LEGO Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight

With the recent release of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight having been received quite positively, a rumor has now indicated that we might see Task Force X making it into the game as DLC. According to XOLEAK, the DLC will feature allies for Joker and Harley Quinn, and will include characters that would be familiar to fans of DC’s comics and movies.

The characters listed in the rumor, which indicates that the DLC will be titled “Mayhem”, are Bronze Tiger, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Deathstroke, Javelin, Katana, Killer Croc, King Shark, Lester (The Electrocutioner?), Mongal, Polka Dot Man, Rick Flag, A.R.G.U.S, and Cops. These additions would bring many of the characters that were depicted in the two Suicide Squad movies that were released over the last decade, along with many characters from the comics.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight went into its May 22nd release date with a lot of momentum, having amassed a million wishlists just on Steam alone. This has been attributed to early positive coverage of the game, with many first impressions praising it. In our own review, we gave it a score of 9 out of 10 thanks to a plethora of factors like a fun story that pays homage to several Batman works, and fun stealth and combat mechanics. In fact, we thought that its simplistic gameplay mechanics didn’t really hurt the overall experience too much.

While primarily developed by TT Games, the credits for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight showcase just how much of the title was a team effort. Among the people listed as having had a hand in making the game are veterans known for their work on Batman: Arkham Origins, Gotham Knight, and even Batman: Arkham series creator Rocksteady Studios.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight offers a fresh LEGO-styled take on the superhero. Rather than focusing on linear levels like other LEGO games, however, Legacy of the Dark Knight instead features an open world. The narrative also takes place across several eras of Batman’s storied career, starting off by putting players into the shoes of a young Bruce Wayne who is training with the League of Shadows. Along the way, players get to meet several friends, including Jim Gordon, Catwoman, Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl, as well as a variety of foes, including The Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Bane, and The Joker, among many others.

On the gameplay side of things, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight features a new combat system involving combo-heavy beatdowns, as well as a variety of stealth techniques that will help players take on the many dangers presented by Gotham City. There are also plenty of options for traversing the city, from grappling and gliding to vehicles. Players can visit iconic locations from throughout Batman’s history, including Ace Chemicals, Wayne Tower, and Arkham Asylum. The open world offers plenty of room for exploration thanks to its plethora of collectibles.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
