Level-5 announces The Snack World For Nintendo 3DS

New cross media property to follow up on the success of Yokai Watch.

Level-5 has announced The Snack World, a brand new game for the Nintendo 3DS that they are hoping to market as a new cross media property, following in the footsteps of Professor Layton, Inazuma Eleven, and Yokai Watch. To wit, to accompany the 3DS game, there will also be a game on iOS and Android, a manga, as well as an anime series.

The Snack World will be the newest game to cash in on the Toys to Life craze, joining the ranks of Skylanders, Disney Infinity, Nintendo’s Amiibo, and the upcoming rumored Lego Dimensions. The project will have “Jara,” a line of small items with embedded chips that will be sold with a “TreJara Box0.” The Jara will interact with the game; touching the lower screen of the 3DS with the Jara will let the player obtain the same item within the game. The items will have various effects such as increasing spell recipes.

So it sounds like the game might be New 3DS exclusive, although given the availability of the NFC accessory for the older 3DS systems later this year, maybe it will be compatible with all 3DS systems on the market after all.

We will keep you posted. Stay tuned.
