Square Enix has released three new gameplay videos from Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, showing off the battle system in place. We’ve heard a lot about how you’ll be able to slow down time and take multiple turns as Lightning fights by herself. How does that all play out though? Check out the gameplay footage below.

Lightning Returns takes place after the events of Final Fantasy XIII-2 and is billed as the last game in the Lightning Saga. The goddess herself is the protagonist this time around and will be working to protect the world from impending doom. You’ll be completing tasks and fighting against a doomsday clock, with your actions either buying you more time and rushing the destruction of the world. The game boasts of a somewhat open-ended nature to help you to accomplish your tasks any way you’d like.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII releases on February 12th 2014 in North America and February 14th 2014 in Europe for Xbox 360 and PS3.
