Square Enix has released the opening cinematic to the upcoming Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. Be warned that it’s roughly 5 minutes long, and you may not really get what’s going on. But hey, Lightning and Snow fighting for some reason, so there is that. Check it out above.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII sees protagonist Lightning return to the main story after nearly a century in isolation. Of course, no sooner does she return than the world is coming to an end. Players will need to race against the doomsday clock in order to save the world and also understand just what is behind the apocalypse.

With new open world features, an open ended approach to the game, new costumes and battle mechanics and more, Lightning Returns looks to succeed where the previous games faltered. It releases on February 12th 2014 in North America and February 14th 2014 in Europe for Xbox 360 and PS3.
