RGG Studio recently announced Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, the next title in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise. Based on the story, which sees Majima Goro waking on an unknown island and becoming a pirate, it seems like a side story to Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Honolulu City is even one of the three regions to explore.

Is it similar to Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name? Speaking to Famitsu (translation via DeepL), RGG president Masayoshi Yokoyama revealed that its story is 1.3 to 1.5 times larger. The exact area size is unknown, though he confirmed that the overall game volume is “much larger” than Gaiden.

Yokoyama also said that the game’s production period has been long and that the team had to keep it a secret for some time. Interestingly, it seems there are plenty of other surprises yet to be revealed.

Like a Dragon: Yakuza Pirate in Hawaii launches February 28th, 2025, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, and PC, retailing for $59.99 (with a Digital Deluxe Edition also available). Learn more about the different playspots and combat styles here.
