Little Devil Inside has been through a long and arduous development cycle, having first emerged as a Kickstarter project all the way back in 2015, and then being hit with several delays in the years since then.

Over two years on from the last time we got a look at the game, it recently re-emerged with an extensive new gameplay trailer, and developer Neostream has accompanied it with an update on the game’s Kickstarter page that addresses its long absence, the state of the project and the development team, and more.

For starters, it looks like many of Neostream’s staff have moved on, though the developer says Little Devil Inside’s original core team still remains at the studio, and is fully focused on making a great game.

“Along the way in all efforts to making a great game, many great people have come and gone,” the developer wrote in its message. “People with respectable but different purposes and pursuits. In sharing these differences and thoughts, we were sometimes touched and moved and sometimes in conflict. We are responsible for not being able to embrace the differences. And of course, sincere apologies to you all.

“So now, we’re back to a smaller, bonded team with a single, common purpose – just to make a great game. And all our core founding and starting members still here with the duty and conscience to fulfill what we set out to do. We know this doesn’t and shouldn’t justify for all the delays and lack of news but we’re still here, have been and always will be. Equipped with one tide turning fact – having gone the long way around, we are stronger. Much stronger.”

The update goes on to confirm that Neostream has started discussions with potential publishers in earnest, and that the footage showcased in the recent aforementioned gameplay trailer was all made using Unreal Engine 5.

“We have genuinely started discussions regarding publishing and once this clears out, hopefully we’ll be able to answer what everyone wants to know,” Neostream wrote. “Here, we’ve just strung together a series of gameplay clips representative of what we have been working on in the UE5 engine.”

Little Devil Inside is in development for PS5, PS4, and PC. There’s no word yet on when the game will release.
