Fans of Soulslikes were recently treated to an excellent new outing in Lies of P, and another game that has looked highly promising is also on the horizon. Lords of the Fallen is due out not long from now, and as we get closer to its launch, developer Hexworks has shared new details on its PS5 version in a new update published on the PlayStation Blog– specifically, how the game will implement the DualSense controller’s unique features.

With the adaptive triggers, Hexworks is different levels of resistance with each trigger pull depending on which weapon you’re using. So unlike light weapons and crossbows, if you’re using medium or heavy weapons or a bow, you can expect much greater tension in the trigger while you’re pulling it. Additionally, when using heavy charged attacks, the trigger will stop after you’ve pulled most of it back, after which you’ll have to pull it back the rest of the way to unleash your attack.

Meanwhile, thanks to the DualSense’s haptic feedback, Hexworks says players will “feel every light and heavy attack”, while you can also expect different rumble sensations for transitioning between the realms of Axiom and Umbral, the Umbral Lamp sensing hotspots in your vicinity, boss battles, and more.

Finally, Lords of the Fallen will also make use of the controller’s speakers. “Every footstep” you take will be heard through the controller as well, according to Hexworks, as will enemies’ reactions upon being hit, and the sounds that emanate from the aforementioned Umbral Lamp.

Hexworks has previously confirmed that on PS5, Lords of the Fallen will run either at 1080p/60 FPS or 4K/30 FPS.

Lords of the Fallen launches on October 13 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
