Lords of the Fallen Will Get DLC “if the Community Asks for More Content”

Developer Hexworks says that though it's not part of the plan right now, work on expansions could begin depending on the players' response.

Being a meaty 25-30-hour experience that will encourage replays with multiple endings, the promise of co-op, New Game Plus, and more, Hexworks and CI Games’ upcoming Soulslike action RPG Lords of the Fallen is clearly not going to be lacking in content, but like with any game these days, that doesn’t mean we won’t get even more of it with post-launch additions.

Of course, right now, nothing has been announced where DLC or expansions for Lords of the Fallen are concerned, but speaking recently to MP1st, Hexworks studio boss Saul Gascon suggested that that’s not completely off the table either. According to Gascon, though the current plan is for Hexworks to move on to its next big project after Lords of the Fallen is out, the studio might look into developing DLC for the game if there’s demand for it from the players.

“We have several things in mind that will all depend on us from the community feedback – how people ask for more, right?” Gascon said. “So basically, we have to plan ahead, which is our original plan, working on the next one. But if the community asks for more content, we might have a bit of an effort to create more content for this game we’re launching right now, this year. It’ll depend a lot on that.”

While whether or not paid expansions get made is up in the air right now, Hexworks will be delivering free updates for Lords of the Fallen following its release, which, Gascon says, will be something the studio continues to focus on for up to a year after launch.

“On top of this, we’re gonna be supporting post-launch with free updates for people, like improvements, requests, and feedback,” he said. “We’ll be doing that for at least like six months to one year after launch, based on the request that we receive. That’s something that we’re going to be doing post-launch.”

Lords of the Fallen launches on October 13 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Check out its PC requirements through here.
