Mafia 2 More Alan Wake Than GTA

Posted By | On 06th, Jul. 2010

The original Mafia was publisher 2K’s alternate take on their own runaway hit GTA series, and its sequel has been long in the coming. For those who were hoping for more of the same, however, this game might not make the cut: Mafia 2, according to developers working on the game, is an entirely different beast, and resembles Alan Wake more than it resembles GTA.

“For us the freedom is not the main thing, which we are offering to the player,” senior gameplay producer at 2K Czech Janek Kolar told CVG recently.

“We are basically trying to limit their freedom to give them more experience, better experience.

“For example Alan Wake is a very narrative title, where story takes a very important role or Uncharted could be an example,” he said.

2K’s international producer adds: “For example Alan Wake is a very narrative title, where story takes a very important role or Uncharted could be an example,” he said.

Mafia 2 hits PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 later this year. We’ll keep you guys posted.
