Before the launch of Mafia: The Old Country, Hangar 13 revealed plans to expand on Explore Mode, which allows players to roam the world outside of the story, in a free update. It’s now confirmed that the update will go live in “the coming months” and add Free Ride Mode.
First introduced in Mafia: Definitive Edition, Free Ride provided new activities for players to pursue, including Phone Booth Missions, races, and Taxi Missions. You can also change the weather and time of day while having access to the armory, garage and outfits. Whether The Old Country offers this same approach remains to be seen, but Hangar 13 says the update will add “new activities and gameplay content.”
In the meantime, it revealed that the action-adventure title had over three million hours of Twitch viewership. Other interesting statistics include 185 million enemies killed, 600 million rounds of ammunition fired, 10 billion Dinari accumulated (lawfully and otherwise), and 17 million bandages used. Unfortunately, it didn’t announce any sales numbers.
