Destiny 2 may be sailing off into the sunset with its final content update on June 9th, but Bungie’s Marathon is just getting started. Season 2: NIGHTFALL begins on June 2nd, and to appropriately hype Runners new and old, a cinematic trailer is now available.
It starts with what seems to be the new Runner Shell, the Sentinel, and their crew entering Night Marsh, the nighttime version of Dire Marsh. The UESC’s troops seem to be on much higher alert – a fact gleaned from what appear to be the flashbacks of previously downed Shells. Some appear to have been cornered by strange beings. Others are hunted and brutally murdered by other Runners.
It’s not long before the Sentinel is left alone in the present, firing at the shadows as unknown creatures scamper about. Suffice it to say that it doesn’t survive, though death seemingly hasn’t provided an escape either. Are players dealing with the mutated husks of former Shells? Or something else?
A full reveal is coming later this week and hopefully we’ll learn more about the Cradle, a gameplay system that grants more control over one’s Runner stats, and that new weapon that the Sentinel is wielding. Of course, Bungie has even more in store, including two new experimental PvE modes, more Vault Space, and so on. Head here for all the details.
