Mario Kart Tour

Without a doubt, Mario Kart has become one of Nintendo’s prime franchises, in some ways even more so the mainline Mario series itself. As outlined in their latest fiscal report, the sales of the series, and specifically Mario Kart 8, have been an ongoing and tremendous success. We’ve known that Nintendo wants to use the brand to put a shock in its mobile line as well, with Mario Kart Tour- which hit a bit of a snag not too long ago. While we still don’t know the exact release date for the game, though, select Android users will get a taste next month.

As you can see on the game’s official website, Nintendo has now opened up applications for a closed beta of the game for Android devices. The beta will start May 22nd, and run all the way to June 7th.

Nintendo’s efforts in the mobile market have been successful, but probably not quite to the level you expect from a brand like theirs jumping into the pool. They have improved since last quarter, and no doubt they hope Mario Kart Tour will help even more when it launches on mobile devices some time later this year.
