Marvel’s Avengers – Spider-Man Confirmed As PS4/PS5 Exclusive Post-Launch Character In 2021

The character will be Crystal Dynamics' take and not related to the Insomniac series.

Marvel's Avengers

We’ll just over a month away from being able to play Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics’ take on the popular Avengers franchise. We’ve seen quite a lot from the superhero game already, including post-launch content we can expect such as raid-like missions and more characters to come. It’ll be an opportunity to jump into the costumes of some of your favorite characters, but at least one of those is sure to cause some strife between platforms.

Via the official PlayStation blog, it was announced that Spider-Man would be joining the roster next year. However, much like some earlier rumors suggested, he will be exclusive to the PlayStation versions of the game, meaning if you want the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man you’ll need either the PS4 or PS5 version. Despite this exclusivity, this is not apparently in relation to the Insomniac Games’ adaptation of the character that was exclusive to the PlayStation 4 as the blog states this will be Crystal Dynamics’ unique take on the character.

Marvel’s Avengers is slated to release September 4th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Stadia, with PS5 and Xbox Series X version coming later.  A beta for the game is running August 7th to 9th for PS4 pre-orders. Xbox One and PC pre-orders can play on August 14th to 16th and players on all platforms can jump in on August 21st to 23rd.
