Marvel's Spider-Man 2

After earning rave reviews, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is now available on PS5. Like previous games, there are multiple Skills to unlock, with Peter Parker and Miles Morales having dedicated abilities. They also have a shared Skill Tree, which means even more XP and Skill Points to get all those powerful Skills. If that weren’t enough, some Skills require multiple Skill Points to unlock.

How do you go about earning the XP required to earn Skill Points? There are many ways to do this, thankfully, and you can take them at your own pace. Let’s go over all of them here.

Complete Story Missions

Story Missions will always provide the biggest chunk of XP and other worthwhile rewards. The trade-off is that they take longer to complete than other activities. Nevertheless, if you want to access some of the more lucrative content for XP, it’s advised to complete the story first.

Stop Crimes

While traveling through the city, various crimes will occur at random. You can ignore them, but they’re worth doing for the 200 XP. Completing the bonus objectives can increase that to 500 XP, providing a decent dent in the grind, especially since they’re pretty quick and easy to clean up (not to mention spawning at a healthy rate). They can also serve as practice for combat, especially when trying out different suits and abilities for the first time.

Side Quests and Collectibles

While the side content won’t be as endearing as the main story, they’re still worth completing for the XP provided (and won’t take nearly as long as a story mission). Side activities also provide Tech Parts and Hero Tokens, which go towards unlocking new suits and gadget upgrades. Complete all the specific activity types, like Hunter Bases, Cultural Museum Missions and Brooklyn Visions, and you get new suits as a reward. As you explore the world map, watch out for various collectibles since they can also provide decent amounts of XP, especially given how many there are.

Perform Tricks

You can perform tricks by holding down Square after exiting a web-swing and pressing the directional inputs. What are tricks for, other than looking good? Each contributes to a multiplier – after performing several in a row, it grants a small chunk of XP. If possible, try to forego fast-traveling to a location and swing across the city to reach it instead, performing tricks all the while. Those small chunks will add up over time, providing a good amount of XP for just a few minutes of web-swinging.

Corruption Events

After completing the story, you could complete any remaining side quests and activities. Alternatively, there’s the new Corruption Events, which task you with defeating waves of enemies and give upwards of 1000 XP for completion. If you still need those last few Skill Points, this is a great way to mop them up.
