Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s New York Won’t Have the Chrysler Building Due to Copyright Issues

Although the skyscraper was present in the 2018 title's open world map, it was missing from 2020's Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to be a much bigger game than its predecessors, with developer Insomniac Games having confirmed that the upcoming sequel’s open world New York will be roughly twice as large as the previous two entries in the series. New boroughs are being added in the form of Queens (where Aunt May’s house can also be visited) and Brooklyn, while Coney Island will also be present– though it seems one notable NYC landmark won’t be present in the game.

Insomniac has confirmed to the New York Times that the Chrysler Building won’t be featured in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, due to the developer having been unable to reach an agreement with the building’s copyright owners. Though the skyscraper was present in the original 2018 title’s open world setting, it was missing in 2020’s Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales due to the same issue.

Meanwhile, gorgeous new screenshots depicting Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s New York have also been revealed. Check them out through here.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches on October 20 for PS5.
