Developer Insomniac Games has been quite silent when it comes to talking about its upcoming project, with recent reports indicating that we will finally get to see Marvel’s Wolverine some time this month. A new report indicates that the studio is also working on a spin-off to its Marvel’s Spider-Man games – dubbed Marvel’s Venom. Along with this the report, courtesy of Mp1st, also indicates that the studio might be aiming for a 2026 launch for Marvel’s Wolverine.

Citing its own sources, the report by Mp1st also includes a few extra details about the Venom project, including the fact that we will see Eddie Brock taking on the role of the protagonist in the spin-off. Along with having historical ties to the Symbiote plot from the original Spider-Man comics, Brock taking on the role would also tie in quite nicely with the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Along with Brock being the protagonist, the spin-off title will also see Cletus Kasady as Carnage, who is expected to serve as the primary antagonist in Marvel’s Venom. Anti-Venom is also expected to make an appearance in the title. Interestingly, according to the report, Insomniac Games had originally planned to release Marvel’s Venom some time this year.

The report also indicates that Insomniac Games is working on bringing in Spider-Man 2099 – Miguel O’Hara – into one of the games it is currently working on. Whether the character will show up in one of the two projects being worked on – Marvel’s Wolverine and Marvel’s Venom – or if the character is planned for yet another title that hasn’t yet been officially announced is currently unknown.

The last time we heard about Marvel’s Venom was all the way back in December 2023, back when it was first reported that the studio was targeting a 2025 launch for the spin-off. At the time, Insomniac Games was also believed to have started work on Marvel’s Spider-Man 3. Even the reports at the time noted that the spin-off would feature Carnage as the main villain of the story.

As for Marvel’s Wolverine, Insomniac Games is expected to finally showcase the title later this month, likely during Tokyo Games Show 2025. A recent report indicated that playtesters have been having a good time with early builds of the title and finding it impressive. This report comes courtesy of Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson.

“So, it is done. It obviously was delayed to quite a big extent,” said Henderson. “From what I’ve managed to hear, from people working on the project, obviously, the ransomware attack and all the game leaking is one thing, but then the emotional strain that it places on people when you have all of your information leaked, like your address, social security numbers, and all that kind of stuff, is massive.”

“So that obviously delayed the game as well. But from a few playtesters I’ve been speaking to, they think the game looks fantastic. So that’s good news, and fingers crossed we get to see a release date in a couple of weeks’ time.”
