Mass Effect: Andromeda’s younger cast of primary characters tried to take the series in a more lighthearted direction and attempted to inject some youthful energy and humour into the proceedings. It’s fair to say that didn’t work very well. Any time Scott or Sara shot off a one-liner or rattled off a supposedly snappy quip, all that did was make us groan and roll our eyes. Andromeda’s writing was far below the level Mass Effect has generally been at, especially with its primary characters, and that was extremely apparent in the game’s attempts at humour and banter.
