Mass Effect: Andromeda May Sell 3 Million Units Before FY 2017 Ends

EA has high hopes for Bioware's latest.

There’s still a lot we don’t know about Bioware’s Mass Effect: Andromeda but publisher EA is confident in its selling power. During an earnings call following its Q3 financial report, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said he expects the game to sell 3 million units before the end of the fourth quarter.

The timing of Mass Effect: Andromeda is interesting because it’s out on March 21st whereas the fourth quarter of the current fiscal year ends on March 21st.

The 3 million figure takes into account the fact that Mass Effect 3 managed to sell 6 million units in its lifetime. For Mass Effect: Andromeda, sales during the closing days of the fourth quarter will make up 30 to 50 percent of lifetime sales according to Jorgensen.

Of course, launch week and actual lifetime sales could be higher for Mass Effect: Andromeda. Regardless, EA has high hopes from Bioware’s next open world opus. Will it deliver? We’ll find out in the coming month so stay tuned for more information.
