The big question these days regarding Bioware’s Mass Effect Andromeda seems to be: When is it out? EA hasn’t really committed to a set release date, instead noting “Spring 2017” as the time when we’ll explore the Andromeda galaxy. It did note at previous points that the game could be delayed for more polish.
CFO Blake Jorgensen spoke during the UBS Global Technology Conference and said that it was shaping up to be “one of the greatest Mass Effect” titles he had ever seen.
“Mass Effect is a great brand, and this is one that’s loved by many people, it’s a combination of sci-fi and action, and this is probably one of the greatest Mass Effect I’ve ever seen. I mean, it’s just a spectacular product.”
Jorgensen also noted that Mass Effect Andromeda could be out at the end of fiscal year 2017 (by March 31st 2017) or the beginning of FY 2018.
“I think it’ll sell well both this year and next year, we haven’t yet stated an exact ship date, but it will most likely ship near the end of the year or possibly early next year, we don’t know yet, but it’ll depend on when the product is fully finished. At the end of the day it’s a product that will sell well, for the next one to three years. We continue to sell Mass Effect in our catalog, and that’s important for our business long-term.”
