Media Create Sales: Battlefield 4 Beats Pokemon X & Y for Top Spot in Japan

You wouldn’t believe it possible that a first person shooter, that too a Battlefield game, would be see a strong start in Japan. You also wouldn’t expect that game, Battlefield 4, to topple the previous number 1 on the Media Create sales charts, Pokemon X & Y, in its debut. But that’s exactly what happened in the week ending November 10th. Battlefield 4 on the PS3 debuted, selling 121,699 units. Pokemon X & Y is only slightly behind at 115,630 units (with lifetime sales at 2,847,101 units). But still, it’s at number 2.

Capcom’s Monster Hunter 4 is still doing great, selling 40,205 units for a lifetime sales total of 2,912,101 copies. Akiba’s Trip 2 debuted on the PS Vita in fourth place and sold 33,476 units, while Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 2013 sold 30,875 units this week, garnering 167,584 lifetime sales.

After helping to boost the Wii U’s sales, Wii Party U has dropped to 11th place this week, with 15,969 units sold and a lifetime total of 53,341 units. The 3DS XL reigned supreme in the hardware category yet again with 53,190 units (down from the previous week’s 58,627) and the 3DS selling 28,627 units (down from 29,749 the week prior). The PlayStation Vita is in third place, with 21,764 units sold, down from 27,618 units.
